Creative Edge Dance Studio Policies
The dress code and policies are set in place to keep dancers safe and to enjoy their time at Creative Edge Dance Studio. It is important for teachers to be able to see dancer’s alignment and technique to allow for dancers to learn the art of dance. Proper alignment and technique also are important to preventing injuries. We ask that families adhere and respect the following policies. Most of this is what we have already been asking of the dancers - we just wanted to put it all in one place for better clarification.
All dancers are required to wear hair in a secured ponytail or bun for classes. If a dancer’s hair is long enough for a ponytail, it must be pulled back securely. Dancers whose hair is too long and distracting in a ponytail should have their hair secured in a bun.
Please remind your dancer to use the restroom before class - we understand sometimes it's unavoidable, but it is a distraction to the class if dancers are running in and out of class multiple times.
Absolutely NO socks will be allowed on studio floors during classes or rehearsals as it is unsafe on our wood floors.
Absolutely NO jeans, baggy t-shirts, sweatshirts or dresses will be allowed during classes or rehearsals. Baggy clothing does not allow teachers to see a dancer’s lines, which could cause injuries if not practicing proper alignment.
Females are required to wear tights or leggings to all classes. All dance shorts or skirts are required to have tights underneath.
Males are required to wear athletic clothing. Shorts with an elastic waistband and shirts that are not baggy.
Jewelry and smart watches should not be a distraction in class. Minimal jewelry is encouraged. Smart watches may be worn at each teacher’s discretion. If smart watches are allowed in class, they are expected to be on “do not disturb” and can be asked to be removed if they become a distraction.
There are no refunds available on costumes (unless there are extenuating circumstances) because they are not always returnable.
If the studio closes unexpectedly for a bad weather day, or unforeseen circumstances such as maintenance issues, a robo-text and email will be sent to the cell phone number on file for each student. Please keep your portal up to date, or notify us at [email protected] with any changes in contact information.
All private communication should be through [email protected] or text/phone call 865-567-6092 (Wendie) or 865-803-8597 (Amanda). Social media is not a reliable source of communication.
Dancers and families should represent Creative Edge Dance Studio with kindness and respect both inside and outside the studio.
No chewing gum in the studio.
Siblings of students not in class must be supervised at all times and need to adhere to the studio rules:
No running in the lobby
No students are allowed in the studio space until the teacher invites them in.
Staff office use is for staff members only. Dancers are always welcome to ask a staff member for use of the microwave or for eating utensils.

Attendance
Dancers cannot improve if they are not in class. Even though dance can be very individualized this is still a group sport. It affects the entire group when dancers are absent. Unplanned conflicts are a part of life, but excessive absences interrupt the learning process for the individual as well as the group. Therefore, we ask that attending classes be a priority in your family. Most classes will have a rehearsal video for recital choreography on our website. Once teachers begin choreography, dancers who are absent are encouraged to check in with a buddy for notes as well as watching the video to be caught up before the next class.
